Research Interests: Dr. Hongchen Shenreceived his Ph.D. from George Washington University before joining Dr. Li’s lab in 2022. His research focused on addressing water pollution and shortage crises through nanotechnology and membrane technology. During his Ph.D., he developed a series of functional nanomaterials for controlling environmental pathogens, particularly waterborne pathogens. He explored the electrocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants, such as surfactants, to enable the efficient reuse of household greywater.
Background: Outside of his research, Dr. Hongchen Shen enjoyed exploring new technologies and had a keen interest in hiking and photography, which provided him with balance and inspiration.
